Guillermo
Perry is a key World
Bank spokesperson on economic situations and prospects in Latin America and the
Caribbean. He has directed policy research for the region since 1996, which has
included major studies on reform of economic and governance institutions,
decentralization, and economic volatility, among others. Before joining the
Bank, he served his native country, Colombia, as minister of finance and public
credit, member of the Constitutional Assembly, senator of the Republic, minister
of mining and energy, and director of the General Directorate of National Taxes,
among others. He has directed two economic think tanks in Colombia, FEDESARROLLO
and the Center for Economic Development Studies (CEDE). He also worked as a
partner and general director of Mejía, Millán & Perry Ltda., a consulting
firm specialized in economic and energy issues.
