The
United States is committed to helping Central Asia become a stable, peaceful,
prosperous region. U.S. interests in the region are threefold:
Preventing
the spread of terrorism,
Providing
tools for political and economic reform and institution of the rule of law, and
Ensuring
the security and transparent development of Caspian energy reserves.
In
order to achieve these goals, the United States is increasing military and
counter-terrorism cooperation as well as pressing for fundamental political,
economic, and societal reforms and for the development of increased respect for
human rights, including women s rights...
